John Penniman, a former classmate of mine at Candler and first year PhD student in Theology at Fordham University, has begun a series of posts on How to Get Accepted to a Theology/Religion PhD Program. John has clearly spent a good deal of time thinking over these issues and his posts reflect a very thoughtful and helpful guide to this mess. Many have written on this topic, but I think what John has written is among the most useful. Though he focuses mainly on “theology,” this series is applicable to programs in biblical studies as well. I have linked the parts of the series that are available and will link the new sections after John writes them. Well done John.
